26.10.2009, HRP - Refugi de Cabana Sorda to Etang de Cuart

The day just demolished:
From Refugi de Cabana Sorda on the Port de Fontargente (also known as Port d'Incles) the lakes along the way to Refuge du Ruhle. Continue from there via Collada de Juclar, Port de l'Albe down along the lakes to the Etang de Cuart.

night it was still pretty fresh. The sleeping bag was naturally warm, but the moment between getting up and coffee was fresh. Unfortunately, the clothes were still damp and clammy, yet the boots got soaked.

helps But yes nothing. Tasty breakfast and delicious coffee later, we went off again. The weather looked much more promising.

The temperatures were still quite low, on the water surface was a thin layer of ice and frozen ground easily. But the sun was shining, schonmal a significant improvement. The path rose slightly and then followed along the slope towards Port de Fontargente.

look back to the Cabana Sorda Refugi and the small lake behind

The path led us past some beautiful lakes. The pathfinding was also very easy, the trails well marked and the roads clear.

One of the many mountain lakes (Estany de Anrodat)

The descent to the valley is very steep. The valley is very beautiful, a river runs through, and there are many possible objectives here. My goal but the port is de Fontargente.

as a whole are a good 250 meters on a simple path to overcome, always parallel to the small stream flows down.

A shadow of my self

The area is under a heavily traveled route, so the sky was often decorated with contrails. The quiet roar of the planes was a constant companion during the ascent. The short piece was done quickly and I was standing at the Port de Fontargente.

Port de Fontargente (Port d'Incles)

From here we had a great view of the two lakes.

The path of the "Sentier de Contrabandiers" out between the two lakes through. Start over larger boulders, the path then simply and well accessible.

little green

From the banks of the larger lake was seen already the Refuge du Ruhle, about 2 km distance. Which are not seen: Davor is still a valley, so it was another 200m descent and ascent in addition. So from 2 km distance were then real 5km route.

view towards Refuge du Ruhle

The descent is easy, the path is a little rough and rocky but otherwise good passable. It is now noon and the sun beats down mercilessly and hot. Especially during re-ascent to the Refuge du Ruhle direct, shadowless sunlight is exhausting.

The Refuge du Ruhle was then but soon reached. Perfect for a long lunch break at the still-wet clothes to dry. Another hiker was doing exactly that and we had some company to eat and things to dry.

Finally back dry boots! By 14:00, we went on, I still wanted to create a few miles, even though I already knew that I no longer up to the originally desired target creates l'Hospitalet près l'Andorre. But I do have a tent there and the weather is fine.

The path continues over the beautiful lake l'Estagnol and is more difficult, usually over rocks.

Stony Path, 15 minutes behind the Refuge du Ruhle

At the lakes over the rocks and the thick bushes along.

Up to a steep slope covered with the large rock is. The landmarks are clearly visible and I am looking for a way up. The way is steep, and here and there I need your hands, but otherwise it goes up quite easily. The climb over the rocks is great fun :-)

climb to the Collada de Juclar

On the rocks again and again the GR11 landmarks.

GR11 milestone

From time to time is also a look back and see necessary to "what one has done" :-)

view back to the Refuge du Ruhle

After the play on the rocks, the path back much easier. Just a few meters were missing from the Collada de Juclar. So it went past the Etang de Joucla

Etang de Joucla

And one last time on up.

The last stretch up to the Collada de Juclar

At this point, take several paths. In the west it goes down to the Refuge de Juclar.

The two lakes on the Refuge de Juclar

However, not mine Direction. I must further west, again something up at the Port de l'Albe, the highest point of the day with 2535m.

Port de l'Albe

Behind the Port de l'Albe gone, revealing a chain of lakes. Below is the first lake, the Etang de l'Albe seen.

Etang de l'Albe

The descent is related to the rise earlier. On steep and rocky. With a little care and similar problems, however funny as the ascent. In the Shadow had always something to be aware of landmarks.

Where are the milestones? :-) Descent to the Etang de l'Albe

over some difficult paths of enormous rock fragments, it goes to the lakes. Finally I get to just before dark I pitch my tent between the Etang de Couart and the Etang de Pedoures.

delicious dinner, water supplies on a beautiful mountain stream is refreshed and then I was done for today.
